Charlie Federman, Managing Partner
Charlie Federman has been an investor and advisor to information technology companies for nearly thirty years. Before co-founding Crossbar Capital, Charlie enjoyed a long relationship with BRM. In 1995 he became a BRM Technologies board member; he later joined BRM full-time as a Managing Director in 1998 and subsequently co-founded BRM Capital in 1999, where he led its New York office. He served as a Managing Director of this Israel and New York based, early-stage fund until 2007. Before joining BRM Capital, Charlie spent fifteen years (culminating as Chairman) with Broadview, a preeminent Mergers and Acquisitions boutique for the Information Technology industry. At Broadview he advised on more than 100 acquisitions of software/Internet companies, was instrumental in establishing and managing the relationship with its affiliated venture fund, Geocapital, and spearheaded the firm’s growth in Europe and Silicon Valley.
Charlie is a member of the board of Bitwine, Payoneer, Cloudsmith, Reimage, and Pando Networks.
He received a BS in Economics at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
Warren Haber, Jr., Managing Partner
Warren Haber brings fourteen years of venture capital experience to Crossbar. Most recently, he was the lead investing Partner in the New York office of Mellon Ventures, the venture capital arm of Mellon Financial Corporation, where he made investments in information technology companies. Prior to Mellon, Warren was a founding Partner of Grand Central Holdings, an early-stage, New York region-focused venture firm. Previously, he was with GE Equity, where he was responsible for originating, evaluating and managing venture capital investments.
Warren is a member of the board of directors of Reimage and is an Advisor to Payoneer and Bitwine.
Warren received his MBA from the Wharton School and his BA in Computer Science from Brown University.
Lawrence Wagenberg, Managing Partner
Lawrence Wagenberg has been an active member of the New York venture capital community for seven years. Larry has been a General Partner of Wheatley Partners, a New York-based venture capital firm investing in the information technology and medical technology sectors. At Wheatley, he serves on the boards of directors of Pando Networks, Guidester and Safeharbor and has been an active board observer at WhittmanHart, VersaMed, Comprehensive Neuroscience and Visiprise.
Prior to joining Wheatley, Larry practiced corporate law with Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, where he focused primarily on private and public securities transactions, mergers and acquisitions.
Larry holds a JD from Fordham University School of Law and a BA from the University of Vermont.
Barry Rubenstein, Venture Partner
Barry Rubenstein brings over thirty years of venture capital experience to Crossbar. Barry is a General Partner and co-founder of Wheatley Partners, a New York-based venture capital firm founded in 1992.
Barry has been a founder and/or founding investor in several technology companies, including Applied Digital Data Systems, Inc. (Founding Chairman and CEO, 1969), Safeguard Scientifics, Inc. (1980), Novell, Inc. (1983), Cheyenne Software, Inc. (CEO, 1985) and FalconStor, Inc. (Founding Chairman and initial CEO, 2000). Several of these companies attained significant market leadership and were rewarded with market valuations-exceeding $1 billion.
Barry has been investing in technology companies since 1976. He co-founded Woodland Venture Fund in 1976 and Seneca Ventures in 1979. Together, these partnerships have invested in over 200 private and small capitalization public technology companies. Barry was also a General Partner of 21st Century Partners, a private equity partnership invested in companies at the intersection of media and technology.
From 1985 to 1987, he served as Chairman and CEO of Cheyenne Software, a public company and industry leader in providing back-up and archival solutions for networked computers. Cheyenne was sold to Computer Associates for approximately $1.2 billion in 1996. Barry also served on the Boards of Cornerstone Internet Solutions, Callwave and US Web. Barry currently serves on the Boards of CosmoCom, FatWire and Certpoint Systems. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from City College of New York and an M.S. in Computer Sciences from New York University.
Barry is also Vice Chairman of the North Shore – LIJ Health System, a $4 billion 15 hospital network -- the third-largest, non-profit, secular healthcare system in the United States. Northshore-LIJ is the largest employer on Long Island and the ninth largest in New York City.
Irwin Lieber, Venture Partner
Irwin Lieber brings over thirty-five years of private and public technology investment experience to Crossbar. Irwin is a General Partner and co-founder of Wheatley Partners, a New York-based venture capital firm founded in 1992. From 1970 to 1979 he was senior analyst, portfolio manager and later General Partner of First Manhattan Company. In 1979, Irwin founded GeoCapital, an investment management company focused on small capitalization companies in a variety of sectors, including technology.
Irwin was a founding General Partner of GeoCapital Partners, a venture capital firm investing in Information Services and Software companies. Irwin also was a General Partner of 21st Century Partners, a private equity partnership invested in companies at the intersection of media and technology. He currently serves on the Boards of WhittmanHart and Tri-Ed. For many years, Irwin was a Director of Cheyenne Software and Scansource and he was a founding investor/advisor to FalconStor Software. Irwin also was an early investor in StorageTek. Irwin is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from City College of New York and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University. |
